After this, start to tighten all the screws down. When you have completed this step of how to change a router bit process, take your new shank and run it over the face of your router bits. This will help to ensure that they are properly aligned now. In order to do this, you need to use two of your common wrenches. You will want to loosen them just enough that they are tight enough to hold the shank in place. Once you have loosened them all the way, place the screw and the washer on the same level and turn on your drill.
Next, you will want to remove the shank from your router bits by pulling on both wrenches. You will need to do this very carefully. One of your hands should be on the top of your collet while the other hand is out on a length of hose. The hose will help you guide the bit as you pull it out. While you are guiding the bit, put one or two of your other wrenches against the bottom of your router bit and keep going.

Now, just slide the whole thing over your router table until you get to the mark that you want to be for your new bit. Then, remove it and reassemble everything back together so that you can remove the shank and install your bit on the other end like a pro.
